IShowSpeed's Dominican Republic Mural Painted Over After Botting Dispute
The mural of IShowSpeed in the Dominican Republic was indeed painted over in May 2026 after a heated dispute regarding the viewership numbers of his recent Caribbean tour livestream.
Key Events Leading to the Mural's Removal
Botting Allegations: During his May 6, 2026, livestream in the Dominican Republic, concurrent viewership appeared to hit a record-breaking 1.9 million. However, on May 7, Speed stated that YouTube representatives confirmed the stream had been viewbotted by approximately 1.6 million fake accounts, and his actual peak was closer to 300,000 viewers.
Conflict with Alofoke: Local media personality Santiago Matías (known as Alofoke), who had hosted Speed during the visit, took offense at the botting claims, viewing them as a slight against the Dominican audience's enthusiasm.
Painting Over the Mural: Alofoke publicly offered 100,000 Dominican pesos to the owner of the building featuring Speed's mural if they would allow it to be painted over live on stream. Protesters and locals subsequently covered the artwork.
Current Status of the Record
Despite the controversy in the Dominican Republic, Speed confirmed that his Indonesia livestream (which peaked at over 1 million real-time viewers) remains his official all-time live viewership record.
