Nora Fatehi Apologizes Before NCW for 'Sarke Chunar'; Says Unaware of Hindi Lyrics
actor Nora Fatehi appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Thursday, May 7, 2026, in New Delhi. She submitted a written unconditional apology regarding the controversial song "Sarke Chunar" from the film KD: The Devil.
Fatehi clarified to reporters that she had shot the song for the original Kannada version three years ago and was unaware of the objectionable lyrics in the later Hindi-dubbed version.
As part of her commitment to social responsibility, she announced the following:Education Sponsorship: She will sponsor the education of 100 orphan girls as a gesture of "social responsibility and atonement".Artist Responsibility: She stated that as an artist, she must be responsible and that there was no intention to offend anyone.
The controversy began when the NCW took suo motu cognisance of the song for being "sexually suggestive" and potentially violating the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act. Fellow actor Sanjay Dutt also previously appeared before the commission, pledging to sponsor the education of 50 tribal girls.
